Intel (NASDAQ: INTC), the American company known for its semiconductors (computer chips), has announced the creation of a new independent company dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI) software named Articul8.

The newly formed entity is a collaboration between Intel and Boston Consulting Group (BCG) that focuses on a generative AI system capable of processing text and images.

Intel’s vision for Articul8 AI

To lead this new venture, Intel has tapped its former vice president of Cloud & AI Strategy, Arun Subramaniyan, to be the CEO of Articul8. In a statement, Subramaniyan emphasized the challenge Articul8 aims to solve in the AI industry.

“We’ve been really trying to address the biggest gap in generative AI today, which is that building a proof of concept is easy, but getting things into production and doing it safely and in a cost-sustainable way is really what is missing,” he said, highlighting the focus on making generative AI accessible and manageable for enterprises.

Articul8 plans to focus on providing enterprises with a full-stack, vertically optimized GenAI software platform that keeps customer data, training, and inference within the enterprise security perimeter. Its technology has been built on Intel hardware architectures and promises a turnkey solution for large enterprise customers to operationalize and scale AI, emphasizing speed, security, and cost-efficiency.

DigitalBridge (NASDAQ: DBRG), the lead investor in Articul8, along with a cohort of venture investors, including Fin Capital, Mindset Ventures, and others, envisions the platform as a force in the digital infrastructure field competing alongside giants like OpenAI, Google (NASDAQ: GOOGL),  Stability AI, and Anthropic AI.

“Every global enterprise today is challenged to integrate GenAI capabilities into their workflows. Articul8 has built a scalable and easy-to-deploy GenAI software platform that is already enabling enterprises to unlock value from their proprietary data,” remarked Marc Ganzi, CEO of DigitalBridge.

The Articul8 advantage

Intel, known for its hardware, specifically its computer chips, venturing into generative AI software through Articul8 may bring unique advantages to the new firm due to its close ties with the semiconductor giant.

In recent months, we have seen Intel announce several new AI-oriented computer chips designed to power generative AI software. Leveraging what is essentially in-house computing power, Articul8 may significantly benefit from its access to Intel’s hardware capabilities to power AI models for its partners.

However, the real test of Articul8’s market value and Intel’s strategic shift will be revealed once we see which enterprises choose Articul8 over other options to host their AI models.

“With its deep AI and HPC domain knowledge and enterprise-grade GenAI deployments, Articul8 is well positioned to deliver tangible business outcomes for Intel and our broader ecosystem of customers and partners. As Intel accelerates AI everywhere, we look forward to our continued collaboration with Articul8,” said Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger, expressing enthusiasm for the collaboration and optimism for its future.

In order for artificial intelligence (AI) to work right within the law and thrive in the face of growing challenges, it needs to integrate an enterprise blockchain system that ensures data input quality and ownership—allowing it to keep data safe while also guaranteeing the immutability of data.
