On this week’s episode of the CoinGeek Weekly Livestream, Kurt Wuckert Jr. talked to Frobots Founder Jerry Chan about the latest developments with his game and his thoughts on the upcoming COPA v Wright trial.

An important update on Frobots

Chan is the founder of Frobots, a battle-bots-style game that utilizes the BSV blockchain. He tells Wuckert he silently released it in January after completing the tournament’s function, which was required for a true battle bots game. While it’s still a bit clunky, it’s a fun way to learn how to program.

COPA v Wright is right around the corner

Wuckert points out that COPA v Wright is coming right up. He asks Chan for a general overview of his thoughts on this and the market in general.

“I’m almost holding my breath,” Chan replies. He thinks this case will determine how 2024 looks for the BSV blockchain. Many things have been merging to this one point; it’s the year of the dragon, the next Bitcoin halving is coming and will disrupt miner profits, the ETFs passed, and we have these lawsuits as well as multiple geopolitical situations and important elections.

It’s a war between the honest and dishonest, Chan says. BTC vs Dr. Wright is going to determine who is lying.

Wuckert says he understands how it could be easy to dismiss Dr. Wright if you don’t like him and his ideas. However, this group consisting of Coinbase (NASDAQ: COIN), Kraken, and people like Jack Dorsey is suspicious. These are the old data mining titans who represent everything bad about big tech. Zuckerberg, in particular, will sell everyone’s data to anyone willing to pay for it. To see BTC advocates team up with these guys is insane.

Chan agrees, saying that it’s clinical cognitive dissonance. The mind will make up any reason not to see the other side’s point. Many of them could also be acting or playing the fool. Wuckert adds that many of them are simply lemmings following their alpha leaders.

More on the specifics of COPA v Wright

Chan notes that there are allegations of forged documents in the case. Many of these documents are the best part of 20 years old, he reminds us. Dumping so many of them at once could be a strategy to overwhelm the opposing legal team.

How did the documents get forged, if indeed they did? There are multiple possible scenarios. Someone close to Dr. Wright could have been bribed to discredit him. The other possibility is that Dr. Wright did it, but Chan doesn’t think he’d have the time, and the documents are too easily debunked for a man of Dr. Wright’s ability in computer forensics.

Chan believes it’s a data dump, and the aim is to give the other side so many documents that they miss the real stuff. Furthermore, COPA needs to believe it can win to proceed to trial. Some documents that discredit Dr. Wright could serve the purpose of making them think they’re going to win, causing them to go to trial, where Dr. Wright will have the chance to present his evidence to the world.

What about Dr. Wright’s recent settlement offer? From COPA’s side, it looks like he wants to wiggle out. From Dr. Wright’s side, that would be precisely what you want them to think. The speed of the rejection also shows that COPA isn’t much of an alliance at all and doesn’t really want what it claims. This realization will be in the judge’s mind when he awards damages.

Wuckert wraps up by saying that, while he doesn’t contact Dr. Wright directly, he does communicate with some people close to him. They say he’s very confident and is pleased that someone is suing him who can afford to pay the bill when damages are awarded. He reminds the audience to stay tuned as CoinGeek will be covering the entire trial.
