The African Blockchain Alliance (ABA), in partnership with ConsenSys Academy, are now taking applications for the second round of the Africa Blockchain Developer Programme initiative.

According to reports, coders from all around the continent can now apply to take part in the Africa Blockchain Developer training programme. ABA announced through a press release that it would be taking in more applicants during this second round. The program is expected to commence before the end of August 2019.

The Africa Blockchain Developer Programme was started earlier in 2019. According to its founders, the program was created to help coders in Africa. The program offers coders with the opportunity to learn and sharpen their skills in blockchain technology. Eventually, the program hopes to create many blockchain developers from the African communities.

The programme had its first class graduate in July, and it is ready to train more people. Wael Yousfi, a graduating developer from Tunisia, who partook in the first programme initiative, had this to say:

Three months ago, I joined the first cohort of the Africa Blockchain Developer Program. It gave me the opportunity to learn more about ethereum blockchain development. I learned to develop solidity smart contracts, and I built my own decentralized application using solidity and truffle. Thanks to Africa Blockchain Alliance for giving me the opportunity to be part of this program. I highly recommend it to every African developer interested in blockchain development.

Notably, this time around the program will give scholarships to some of the applicants. These scholarships will be awarded thanks to a $10,000 grant provided by ConsenSys Academy during the 2019 Ethereal Summit in New York on May 2019.

According to reports by ABA, the organizers plan to increase the number of developers in the second application round. In addition, to increase the number of vacancies, the organizers also want to have diverse representation developers from different countries in Africa.

Accepted applicants will go through three months training which will be done mostly online. Each applicant will also get mentorship support. Assigned mentors will ensure all questions and inquiries from the trainees are addressed.

Finally, the training program will end with the graduation of the new blockchain developers. For their graduation, these new developers will be issued with certificates on the Ethereum blockchain. In addition, all graduates will be allowed to work on the available blockchain projects arising in Africa.
