First Beijing BSV conference creates new interest, could lead to boom

After wrapping up the first major Bitcoin SV conference in China, Bitcoin Association China Manager Lise Li is calling it “a huge success.” Over 200 people attended the event, many getting their first taste of BSV after working on other blockchain projects.

Dr. Craig Wright and Bitcoin Association Founding President Jimmy Nguyen both presented at the event. Their presence, Li said, “Roused more people’s interests in Bitcoin SV and BSV booming in China is foreseeable.”

It’s another big step as part of BSV’s push into Asia—markets vital to achieving global success for any project of this scale and nature, but which also require sound local knowledge and understanding of what messages to deploy.

More impressive was the fact the first China conference was semi-spontaneous, and invite-only. With Dr. Wright and Jimmy Nguyen coming to Beijing for the broader T-EDGE technology showcase, organizers decided to hold a BSV-specific event the same week.

Li said the invite list included developers, entrepreneurs, ecosystem partners, media, professors, and selected others from Beijing and other parts of the country.

She added the event’s popularity (Li and others organized it in under two weeks) was thanks to China’s active role in new technologies over the past two decades.

“Even though blockchain has become more and more well known today, there are still only a few people that know how the Bitcoin system works, or what are the deep meanings of blockchain technology. However, some visionaries who called themselves ‘Bitcoin Learners’ have followed Dr. Wright’s papers for a long time, they regard him as their mentor who’s leading them to get in touch with the most promising technology in the future. That’s why we have lots of people coming from other cities to meet and listen to their idol and constantly and voluntarily spread Bitcoin SV’s ideas to their friends and even to the public.”

The Bitcoin Association’s China team has a mission to educate more developers and entrepreneurs on the power of BSV technology, and welcome them to build businesses on its blockchain.

Some of the Beijing conference attendees had not paid much attention to BSV before, even those who had studied or worked in other parts of the blockchain world. They “said our BSV conference changed their understandings of Bitcoin a lot, especially on the necessity of Bitcoin scaling, how BSV can be applied by enterprises, and why Bitcoin SV can meet regulatory requirements. These are key challenges to all blockchains, and I’m glad Jimmy and Craig’s speeches inspired people.”

In his speech to attendees, Dr. Wright said people building the Bitcoin SV ecosystem would “make China better,” and touted its focus on compliance and transparency.

“I want you to create systems that will stop corruption. And I want you to make a system that will make your families proud that you did it—not because you’ve hidden yourselves, but because you can stand and say this is something worth doing.”

T-EDGE is a three-day conference covering the general technology industry, not just cryptocurrency or blockchain. Nguyen and Dr. Wright both presented on BSV at T-EDGE as well, with Nguyen accepting a CHAINSIGHTS Award for Blockchain Technology Breakthroughs of 2019 on behalf or Bitcoin SV Node project.
